Research shows that most learning from training is wasted, and learning doesn’t get to be used on the job. This is partly because companies use knowledge to build skills, whereas knowledge doesn’t necessarily enable performance. It is also because of poor evaluation exercises that provide data with little real insight and off-base action steps.
In this session, you will learn about research-backed steps to embed evaluation in your L&D efforts. You’ll explore how to plan a learning evaluation from logic modelling to choosing the evaluation metrics & tools. You’ll leave the session with a research-based proposed solution to learning design & evaluation that is a promising approach to maximize transfer of learning to the workplace.

Get ready for an innovative collaboration! ATD Rhode Island and Dream See Do (DSD) are joining forces to bring you an immersive hackathon experience like no other. Join us for this unique event combining networking and innovation. Dinner and refreshments will be provided.
What is a hackathon you ask?
A hackathon is an exciting and collaborative event where participants come together to create innovative solutions or projects within a limited timeframe, usually ranging from a few hours to a few days. This hackathon is not just for techies! This is your chance to brainstorm, innovate, and create impactful solutions for the world of L&D. These events are not only an opportunity to showcase a range of skills but also to learn, network and connect with peers, and push the boundaries of what technology and program design can achieve in a short span of time.
Our Theme: The CPR Flywheel™ + Thoughtful AI:
The CPR Flywheel™ is DSD’s human-centered, research-based, and digitally native learning model which champions Connection, Practice and Reflection for deeper learning and behavior change that sticks. This model has served as the foundation for their platform features & design principles, and has netted tremendous engagement and outcomes in the L&D space.
This Hackathon will have the benefit of leveraging this model, while simultaneously providing the participants an opportunity to harness learnings from the experience. We will also incorporate generative AI with a human touch. Likely the most talked about technology and trend on the planet, the DSD team will help dispel some of the myths, and ground us in ways this powerful tool can be leveraged in meaningful and thoughtful ways, particularly focusing on how AI can inform Connection, Practice and Reflection in blended experiences.
The Challenge: Prototype new ideas (apps; assessments; approaches; etc) for blended learning, training and coaching experiences that you would desire, leveraging elements of the CPR Flywheel™ and generative AI.
Participants: L&D Professionals, Learning designers, Content Developers, Graphic Designers, UI/UX experts and more.
Goal: Create a clear and engaging presentation for the prototype that your group creates during this hackathon, to present to your peers.

In a rapidly evolving professional landscape, this webinar will focus on the importance of staying ahead by developing key personal and professional skills. Paul Eschen, CMO at BizLibrary, will share key takeaways from a recent Trends in Training survey of hundreds of HR and L&D professionals on the top skills that organizations are prioritizing in 2024 and beyond.
Here are the top three takeaways from the session:
• Talent vs. Technology: Navigating Conflicting Priorities: As organizations strive to harness the benefits of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT for productivity gains, they face the challenge of balancing talent retention and development with the imperative to build scalable digital literacy. • Creating vs. Order Taking: Embrace Strategic HR Leadership: Transitioning from an order-taker to a creator in the HR domain means evolving beyond merely executing directives to proactively shaping strategic initiatives. This shift requires HR professionals to cultivate agility and adaptability, positioning themselves as indispensable strategic partners who not only respond to business needs but also anticipate and drive them. • Leadership 2.0—What the Leaders of 2030 Will Look Like: The Evolving Importance of Empathy and Communication: The transition from leaders of today to leaders of 2030 underscores a significant shift in the essential skills and attributes required to thrive in an evolving organizational landscape.
